What's New

BTCA Logo

Great News! The AKC Board is now allowing All-Breed and FSS Parent Clubs to Host FSS Open Shows. All-breed clubs will be able to host FSS Open Shows, and FSS breed Parent Clubs can hold an FSS Open Show for all FSS (including Miscellaneous Class) breeds. ADDITIONALLY,  your dogs will earn points towards a "Certificate of Merit", which is equivalent to the "Championship Title". This title "CM" will be denoted on your registration. Wisdom Panel Test Results Explained

We have provided a detailed explanation of the acceptable results for the Wisdom Panel 4.0 test.  The new 4.0 has 6 individual tests in which to evaluate the dog, giving us more information to make a better analysis of whether we have a purebred or not. The BTCA, Inc., Biewer Terrier Club of America, Inc. has been named the parent club for the Biewer Terrier by the AKC. As the Biewer Terrier is gaining recognition World Wide as a breed of its own, the BTCA continues to assist those countries needing help in obtaining recognition with their respective kennel clubs. You can register your purebred Biewer Terrier with AKC/FSS, UKC and BTRA in the United States. We are looking forward to developing a strong, healthy foundation for the Biewer Terrier. About the Biewer Terrier Club of America

BTCA, Inc. Code of Ethics Our Members abide by this Code of Ethics as a minimum code of conduct.

Members must be professional and courteous at all times. Not only do you represent the BTCA, but all dog lovers.

Establish a reputation of trust and honor among fellow club members and all interested parties.

The BTCA members will work to the betterment of this breed and this club, as well as encourage others to do so.

Be polite and honest when representing your dog, whether in the show ring, for sale or breeding.

Meetings will be held at the time of the dog shows or special club events.

Members should not show dogs that do not meet the Biewer Terrier Standard.

Maintain the best possible standards of health and quality of life for your dogs.

Breed dogs and bitches that are free of serious congenital and hereditary defects.

Keep up to date on the health and genetic issues of the breed.

Work to control and/or eradicate inherited problems and conditions that are particular to the Biewer Terrier breed and breed as closely as possible to the standard of the breed.

Encourage and promote responsible breeding practices.

A breeder must strive to conform to the standard of the Biewer Terrier as set by the BTCA.

Both male and female breeding dogs will have DNA profiles and be screened for hereditary diseases.

Encourage spaying or neutering of animals not desirable for breeding.

Cannot duel register BTRA dogs with any outside registries not affiliated with the Biewer Terrier Registry of America. Exception; Dog show Venues.

Never knowingly sell to commercial dog wholesale or retail dealers or their agents.

A member will not breed before the dogs are physically mature and are in good health.

Our members will regard this Code of Ethics as a minimum standard of ethical behavior. The BTCA members will accept no less in those that they are doing business with.

Always remember that the gifts you have, were given you from God, so be as generous when people are seeking knowledge and advice about our breed.

 

***Mars testing can now be done with a cheek swab through the Wisdom Panel website. The "Cheek Swab Kit 4.0" is the only acceptable test for the Biewer Terrier***
